How to Calculate a Due Date 30 Days Out in Excel
Set Net 30 invoice due dates, move weekend due dates to the next business day, and apply a 2% early-payment discount.
You will learn to
- Add 30 days to an invoice date
- Push a weekend due date to the next business day
- Apply an early-payment discount window
How it works
Because Excel dates are day numbers, a Net 30 due date is just =B2+30. Format the cell as a date and it reads correctly, even across month and year ends. (Use EDATE instead if your terms say “one month”, not “30 days”.)
If a due date must fall on a business day, =WORKDAY(B2+29,1) returns day 30 when it is a weekday and the following Monday when it lands on a weekend. For early-payment terms such as 2/10 net 30, compare the payment date with the invoice date plus 10 days.
