Create a Nested IF Formula
Handle three or more outcomes by placing IF inside IF (or use IFS).
You will learn to
- Order tests from highest to lowest
- Nest IF functions
- Know the IFS alternative
How it works
A nested IF puts another IF in the value_if_false slot so you can test conditions in order: =IF(B2>=90,"A",IF(B2>=80,"B",IF(B2>=70,"C","F"))). IFS offers a flatter alternative.
=IF(B2>=90,"A",IF(B2>=80,"B",IF(B2>=70,"C","F")))
