How it works

EOMONTH(start_date, months) returns the last day of the month that is a given number of months away. =EOMONTH(B2,0) is the end of the same month, =EOMONTH(B2,1) the end of next month, and =EOMONTH(B2,-1) the end of last month. It handles 28-, 29-, 30- and 31-day months automatically.

EOMONTH is perfect for proration: EOMONTH(B2,0)-B2+1 is the number of days left in the month including the start day, and DAY(EOMONTH(B2,0)) is the number of days in that month.
