Find the Lowest Value with MIN

Find the smallest number in a list — great for best times, lowest prices and minimum stock.

You will learn to

  • Use MIN to return the smallest value in a range

How it works

MIN returns the smallest number in a range: =MIN(B2:B6). It is perfect for best times, cheapest prices and minimum stock levels. Empty cells and text are ignored, so a blank does not count as zero.

To find the smallest value that meets a condition, use MINIFS, for example =MINIFS(C2:C20,A2:A20,"North").

=MIN(B2:B6)
