How to Find the Minimum with Conditions Using MINIFS
MINIFS returns the smallest value that meets your conditions — the cheapest quote per part, within a lead time, ignoring zeros.
You will learn to
- Find the cheapest quote for one item
- Add a second condition on lead time
- Exclude zero placeholders from a minimum
How it works
MINIFS(min_range, criteria_range1, criteria1, …) returns the smallest value among rows that satisfy every condition. =MINIFS(C2:C12,A2:A12,"M8 bolt") is the cheapest quote for that part, no matter how many other parts share the list.
A common trap: zeros. If “no bid” is recorded as 0, a plain MINIFS will happily return 0. Add a condition on the value column itself — C2:C12,">0" — to skip them. Like MAXIFS, MINIFS returns 0 if no rows match.
