How to Round Up to an Even Number with EVEN
EVEN rounds up to the next even integer — exactly what double-sided printing, pairs and two-seat bookings need.
You will learn to
- Round a page count up to an even number
- Turn pages into sheets of paper
- Count the blank pages added across a print run
How it works
EVEN(number) rounds a number up, away from zero, to the next even integer: =EVEN(37) is 38, =EVEN(38) stays 38 and =EVEN(-3) is -4. That is exactly how double-sided printing works — a 37-page document still uses 19 sheets, with one blank page at the end.
Divide EVEN(pages) by 2 to get sheets, and multiply by copies for the paper order. EVEN(pages)-pages tells you whether a blank page was added, which is useful when you are checking layouts before a big run.
